Ribbed construction as well as other items make the Selmer seem like it is built like a tank. I am also pondering the possibilities of getting a G1 neck for the YTS-61 which, if I am reading the posts correctly here on the SOTW forum, would add richness and fatten up the tone some more.īy the way, construction on the Omega is very solid. It is brighter than the Link and would really sound good for R&B. I feel I have the ability to shape the sound from dark to screaming by adjusting airstream and embouchure.Īlso, I have a plastic Brilhart personaline which really works nice with the Yamaha, even though it sounds a little brittle on the Omega. However, my Link Millenium, which always sounded marginal or a little stuffy on the Omega really sings on the Yamaha. What I find is that the Morgan and the Yamaha just can't seem to make friends. Trying different combinations of reeds and mouthpieces, I am getting more and more atuned to the Yamaha. I promised myself I would spend the weekend with the Yamaha to try to give it a more fair evaluation.
